Comprehensive Review of One-Way Waffle Slab Formwork: An Innovative Solution in the Construction Industry
In the modern construction industry, finding solutions that simultaneously optimize costs, increase execution speed, and improve structural quality is of paramount importance. The one-way waffle slab, along with its specialized forms, is one such innovation that has gained a special place among engineers and contractors. Sanat Majd, with years of experience in producing and supplying concrete forms, invites you to read this article to become familiar with all aspects of this innovative roofing system.
What is a one-way waffle slab formwork?
The one-way waffle slab is a type of hollow slab that creates empty spaces in concrete using special forms. Unlike flat slab roofs, where concrete has a uniform thickness throughout the section, these slabs have a network of concrete joists in one direction that transfer loads linearly to the main beams and then to the columns. Due to this structure, they are called “one-way” because the main load-bearing occurs in a single direction.
The forms used in these slabs are typically made of durable plastic (such as polypropylene or HDPP) or fiberglass, and after concrete pouring and setting, they are removed from beneath the slab and can be reused for subsequent projects. This feature of
